During the 2008 world-wide anti-Chinese protests for Tibetan independence, a retired Cincinnati businessman, in this novel, reluctantly attempts to deliver a secret message from the U.S. government to the Dalai Lama at this home in the mountains of northern India. Starting at the pro-Tibet demonstrations on the Left Bank in Paris, his chaotic journey takes him to the New Delhi Railroad Station, where he boards the Jammu Mail Train. He is pursued by an anti-Chinese radical who wants to prevent the message from reaching the Dalai Lama. This lively story moves from the private office of a U.S. Senator to the Dalai Lama's bungalow and ends at The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati.
