The Black Experience Book Club brings light to works created by Black Authors in America, in an attempt to understand the Black Experience in America.
What are the pitfalls, the high points, the commonalities, the differences in what it means to be Black in America throughout history and today? The book club holds space for people to share their experiences and foster community and scholarship.
In July, we're reading The Fire This Time, an essay collection edited by Jesmyn Ward, inspired by The Fire Next Time. This discussion is part of a summer of reading leading up to our Modern Novel Lecture in September, delivered by Jesmyn Ward.
The BEBC meets monthly from January to October each year.
