Adaptation Book Club returns to discuss the question: "Is the book better than the movie?"

In April, we'll watch The Haunting (1963), directed by Robert Wise and based on Shirley Jackson's seminal haunted house novel The Haunting of Hill House (1959). Both book and film follow Eleanor, a shy young woman who joins a paranormal investigation shortly after the death of her domineering mother. As she gets to know her co-investigators, including the glamorous actress Theodora, she begins to lose her grip on reality. Are the ghosts real or is Eleanor slowly descending into madness?

Join us in discussing the film and novel following a free screening at the Mercantile.
